What are condoms?
Condoms are thin sheaths made of latex, a kind of latex, that blocks the semen’s entrance into the mouth, vagina or anus by catching it. Condoms are an effective protection from HIV and other STI.
How do I use condoms?
It’s easy. But it is best if you discuss condom use with your sexual partner first to avoid misunderstandings along the way.
- Inspect the packet. Make sure there are no tears or holes. Then make sure that it is not expired. Usually expiration dates are displayed on the packet. If you encounter the manufacturing date, just add 3 years to know its expiration date.
- Open the packet carefully, tearing it by the fingers, not by the teeth.
- Press the tip before putting it on the head of the erect penis. Pressing the tip releases the excess air, preventing the condom from bursting.
- Unroll the condom downwards, to the base of the penis.
- Condoms are usually lubricated. For additional lubrication, use water-based lubricants only. Examples are KY jelly, glycerine or saliva. Oil-based lubricants like lotions and oils can contribute to the rupture of the condom.
- Check from time to time if the condom is still in place.
- After ejaculating, withdraw the penis while still erect. This will facilitate the easy removal of the condom and prevent spillage.
- Tie the open end of the condom then throw it into a wastebasket. Don’t discard it into the toilet.
How do I keep my condoms?
Condoms are easily damaged by heat and friction so your wallet and back pockets are not the best places to keep condoms. If your shirt or blouse has a pocket or better yet, if you have a bag, you can keep your condoms in there.
Where can I buy condoms?
